Six Sigma

Six Sigma is, on one hand, is one

  • Process identification number, the standard divergence of a process, on the other hand, is one
  • Methodology for the process improvement.

The Sigma value of a process describes how well products / processes fulfil the customer standards. 1 Sigma process means that 68% of the products / repetitions of a process fulfil the customer standards. 5-and 6-Sigma processes fulfil highly the customer standards.

Six Sigma

Six Sigma methodologies are prefered for the reduction of variance in processes, to stabilize the process.

At last an average delivery time of 15 days states nothing about the process.

For explanation an easy example:

Two enterprises show an average delivery time of 15 days in each case. The customer would like to get the product at latest after 18 days.
Enterprise 1 has delivered two orders, with 29 days and 1 day delivery time.
Enterprise 2 has delivered two orders with 14 days and 16 day delivery time.
Enterprise two fulfils more orders according to the customer specification than enterprise 1 in spite of the same average delivery time. The Sigma value of the enterprise two is higher in this process.

Six Sigma

Six sigma helps to stabilize the process to fulfil highly the demand of customers.
